Instead of a focus group this week, Sarah sits down with four political super-nerds to get their read on Tuesday's election and beyond. She's joined by Jon Ralston to talk Nevada, Brahm Resnik — political reporter for Phoenix’s local NBC affiliate — to talk Arizona, along with Bill Kristol, and Gunner Ramer, the political director of the Republican Accountability PAC.
On the Hobbs/Lake debate (warning: JVL is always right) no one who would have actually voted for Hobbs was swayed by her not debating. The same way Jon Ossoff didn’t win over anyone by talking to the empty Perdue podium. These people were looking for any excuse to vote Lake they were not undecided.
Sarah, great show. If Kari Lake wins and also a bunch of these scary candidates and Georgia goes to a runoff and that is the outcome that decides the Senate, I think the Bulwark community should go hard after the so-called establishment Republicans (Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Mike Pence (that one is hard for me to list as establishment, though, but you all probably do) and all the others). No more free passes and excuses. They need to step up, too. It's way past time!
Is there any known strategy to get democrats to vote in person this year? Just wondering if the mail in vote pattern by party will be different since we aren’t in a pandemic.
It's stunning, to me anyway, that the US Senate race in NC has received absolutely no attention. It's dramatically close, but the Media has chosen to focus instead on the usual suspects. Disappointing.
I appreciate your reporting,,,I certainly hope the independent vote in Nevada follows mine (I'm a registered Independent). I voted blue from top to bottom. Even if I were inclined to vote for a Republican, they aren't any that I could even remotely support.
Thanks for all your Focus groups this campaign season. Never missed one. Enjoyed the conversations with your guests on this last one. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing it out to the Bulwark junkies.
Don't forget, Sarah, that although Brad Raffensberger held the line in 2020 as you said, the State Legislature has taken election management powers away from the Secretary of State's office in Georgia since to keep him from doing that again.
Lol. You all called it very wrong.
And that is the beauty of democracy....you don't know because it is up to the people.
Thanks as always Sarah....I sure hope there is some good news, rather than very little on Tuesday

Really good discussion

There is plenty that they are that is worthy of attack.

Really liked this episode! Would listen to a more regular "Sarah's Speedrun" series, also liked hearing from Gunner!
My upset pick is Franken in Iowa!
Keep the Conor Lamb nonsense up if you want to split the party. Lamb got trounced. The only reason this is close is because Fetterman had a stroke.
So much election nerd goodness Thanks Sarah!

Good show Sarah, appreciated it.
My upset prediction: Beasley beats Budd. :o
