Listen now (70 min) | Instead of a focus group this week, Sarah sits down with four political super-nerds to get their read on Tuesday's election and beyond. She's joined by Jon Ralston to talk Nevada, Brahm Resnik — political reporter for Phoenix’s local NBC affiliate — to talk Arizona, along with Bill Kristol, and Gunner Ramer, the political director of the Republican Accountability PAC.
We’re just going to chuckle at the idea that there may be something “janky” at the post office? Democrats lead with mail-in voting. Interfering with that doesn’t feel like a thing which could never happen, and deniers likely work in the PO as they do everywhere else.
I hope Nevada’s Dems are going to be visiting post offices.
Don't forget, Sarah, that although Brad Raffensberger held the line in 2020 as you said, the State Legislature has taken election management powers away from the Secretary of State's office in Georgia since to keep him from doing that again.
It's stunning, to me anyway, that the US Senate race in NC has received absolutely no attention. It's dramatically close, but the Media has chosen to focus instead on the usual suspects. Disappointing.
Thanks for all your Focus groups this campaign season. Never missed one. Enjoyed the conversations with your guests on this last one. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing it out to the Bulwark junkies.
Sarah, great show. If Kari Lake wins and also a bunch of these scary candidates and Georgia goes to a runoff and that is the outcome that decides the Senate, I think the Bulwark community should go hard after the so-called establishment Republicans (Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Mike Pence (that one is hard for me to list as establishment, though, but you all probably do) and all the others). No more free passes and excuses. They need to step up, too. It's way past time!
If Democrats and non-MAGA Independents and Republicans cannot be bothered to vote in a midterm election with so much on the line, then I'm going to rethink my trips there every year, and I would hope others would follow suit.
How hard can it be to vote in a state that mails everyone a ballot? What more do these people want or need to make it as convenient as possible? Sorry, but we are living in a time when participating in a democracy is the only thing that is going to save it, and in Nevada, there's no excuse not to. If there were a major problem going on with the Post Office in the state, someone would have uncovered and reported on it already.
Hi, Sarah. In DC on the 20th you and Amanda were the two Bulwarkers who responded at least somewhat positively to my idea that Joe Biden should 1. Run again, and 2. Invite other dems into the primaries. Amanda gave it a name, the “Primary Me” strategy, even as she said Biden wouldn’t do it. Well of course he won’t do it if he never hears about it, so I’m inviting you to talk about this harebrained idea and see if anyone runs it up the flagpole. (Feel free to substitute your own fractured metaphor.)
I appreciate your reporting,,,I certainly hope the independent vote in Nevada follows mine (I'm a registered Independent). I voted blue from top to bottom. Even if I were inclined to vote for a Republican, they aren't any that I could even remotely support.
Good show. Hope the Dems hold the Senate. The house shouldn’t spend money for next couple of years, so they can have fun with Impeachment. When will the Dems get candidates who know how to take it to the enemy? Think Oz got lucky with his opponents health issue, which definitely protected Oz’s jugular.
Is there any known strategy to get democrats to vote in person this year? Just wondering if the mail in vote pattern by party will be different since we aren’t in a pandemic.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Sarah pronouncing Nevada correctly. Every election cycle I cringe when I hear people say Neh Vah Duh.

As my mom used to say “We’ll see”. That was South Dakota commentary.

Thanks for listening. Best of luck (to all of us)

This was AWEsome! Also terrifying, but still - Thank You for giving us this!

Really liked this episode! Would listen to a more regular "Sarah's Speedrun" series, also liked hearing from Gunner!
My upset pick is Franken in Iowa!
So much election nerd goodness Thanks Sarah!
